Concealed Weapons Information

Concealed Weapon Permits New and Renewals: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm

New policy regarding renewals effective September 27, 2024: CWPs can be renewed up to 90 days before their expiration date to 30 days after their expiration date. CWP that are expired for more than 30 days will have to complete the full application process.

• Cost of renewal $40.00
• Cost after expiration 30 days: $65.00

The following information should be read prior to applying for a concealed weapons permit. The copies of the laws state clearly what is required of the application to be granted a permit.

• Be a United States Citizen
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Hold a valid Montana diver's license or other form of identification issued by the state with a picture of the person identified
• Be a resident of the state for at least 6 months.
• Have completed a firearms course as established in 45-8-321(3) & (4)
• In the event any one or combination of 45-8-321 (1) a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, or (2) exists, the permit will not be issued.

Please keep in mind that this process could take up to 6-8 weeks to receive them in the mail.

You shall pay $40.00 or $65.00 cash or check (payable to the Valley County Sheriff's Office).
